The Signal app is trying to give the same experience as WhatsApp. For this, the company is bringing new features exactly on the lines of WhatsApp, which are already present in WhatsApp.

All these changes were noticed at a time when users were shifting from WhatsApp to Signal. New features that have been added to Signal include the ‘Chat Wallpapers’, and the ‘About’ option.

You must remember that protests started all over India in the last few days after WhatsApp announced the change in their privacy policy.

The Indian government objected. The case went to court. Overnight many people leave WhatsApp and start looking for alternatives. WhatsApp eventually withdrew their privacy policy.

Wallpaper feature

WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo reports that the Android version of Signal 5.3.1 has a new chat wallpaper feature. To access it, the user has to go to the settings of the Signal app and click on the Appearance option.

Then click on Chat Wallpaper. There are 21 pre-set wallpapers on Signal. Also, the Dark theme can be used for chatting. The chat wallpaper option from WhatsApp was given a long time ago.

This was followed by the addition of a custom wallpaper option in December last year.

About option

Besides, Custom About options has been added to the Signal app, which gives the user the option to add their contacts and statuses.

This is available in the profile option. This can be set by going to the Settings menu of the Signal app. This option already exists in WhatsApp.

Signal animation feature

Animated stickers are being added to the Signal app on a day-to-day basis. The Signal desktop app gives the user the option to create a new animated sticker.

WhatsApp added the animated feature in July last year. The signal app is being given low-data mode, which will allow calling in fewer data. This feature is also already present on WhatsApp.
