In January 2022, the number of telecom service users
dropped to 1169 million whereas in December 2021 this number was 117.8 crore.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI Reports), the
number of Reliance Jio users has decreased by 93.22 lakh in January 2022
as compared to December 2021.
In January 2022, the number of wireless subscribers to
Vodafone Idea decreased by 3.89 million. Where the number of BSNL subscribers
has decreased to 3.8 lakh. MTNL has lost 331 users. According to TRAI
Reports, the number of telecom subscribers in India declined by about 0.76
percent monthly. The number of wireless subscribers has decreased by 0.81
percent to 114.52 crores, which was 115.46 crore in December.
Except for Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jammu, and Kashmir, the
number of Reliance Jio users has declined in all telecom circles across
the country. On the other hand, the number of Bharti Airtel users increased by
8.1 lakh in January. In this context, the share of mobile wireless subscribers
in the total telecom subscriber base of India is about 98 percent.
In terms of wireline subscribers, Jio got 3.08 million
new subscribers. As of December 2021, Jio's wireline subscribers grew by 24.21.
Reliance Jio was followed by Bharti Airtel with 94,010 subscribers, BSNL
32,098, and Quadrant 16,749 subscribers. MTNL lost 23,475 wireline subscribers
in January. Similarly, Tata Teleservices and Vodafone Idea have also lost
wireline subscribers.
According to the TRAI Reports, total broadband
users fell from 792.08 million at the end of December 21 to 783.43 million at
the end of January 2022, an average of 1.1 percent per month.
Reliance Jio has 41.12 crore broadband users, Bharti Airtel 21 crore, Vodafone Idea 12.1 crore, BSNL 2.62 crore, and Atria Convergence 20 lakh.
