An Indian e-commerce site is being developed by
the Central government. It is being developed by the Government's Department
for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
In this regard, a Steering Committee has been set up by
the government, which will be known as Open Network for Digital Commerce
(ONDC).
The task of this committee will be the responsibility of making
a policy for an e-commerce site and implementing it. Also, a policy has
to be prepared for e-commerce companies.
Who will be included in the committee?
The objective of this initiative of the government is to
create an Indian e-commerce site, which will be supported by the Central
government.
Senior DPIIT Officer has been elected as the Chairman of
the Committee on Government E-Commerce Platforms. The Department of Commerce,
Ministry of Electronics, IT Ministry, Ministry of MSME, and NITI Aayog will also
include as representatives of the Indian e-commerce site committee.
Apart from this, Adil Jainulbhai, Chairman of Quality
Council of India, Dilip Asbe, CEO of NPCI Technology, Suresh Seth, CEO of NSDL
Technology will also be part of this committee.
In addition, a representative of CAT (CAIT) will also be
included for industry input. Let me tell you that CAT has been opposing foreign
e-commerce companies for a long time.
Amazon and Flipkart will get a tuff competition
Amazon and Flipkart have a majority share in the Indian
e-commerce platform. But with the coming of the Indian e-commerce site,
Amazon and Flipkart may get a tuff competition.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital
India's campaign will be helped to move forward. PM Modi has launched the Vocal
for Local and Self-Reliant India Campaign.
In such a situation, the Indian e-commerce site made
by the Central Government of India can prove to be helpful in fulfilling PM
Modi's dream.
