HD video will no longer available on mobile networks in India.

HD video will no longer available on online video streaming service platforms like  Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Tiktok. They have discontinued HD and Ultra HD video transmission on mobile networks in India through their platforms.

The companies have taken this decision due to the complete lockdown has been done in the country. HD or Ultra HD video content will no longer available through mobile network in India during these 21 days.

Sony, Google, Facebook, Viacom18, MX Player, Hotstar, Zee, Tiktok, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video all online streaming platforms have decided to transmit Standard Definition (SD) content by April 14 to remove the load on a cellular network or mobile networks in India.

All these companies have issued a joint statement saying that they have decided to take this decision with immediate effect keeping in mind the interest of the national consumer.

During these 21 days, users will get 480p resolution video online streaming only on SD quality through mobile network operators. However, users will continue to receive HD and Ultra HD quality content through broadband connections and wi-fi networks available.

The companies have urged the mobile consumer to reduce their streaming quality to maintain the data network smoothly through a joint statement.

Now, while the entire country is locked down, this data consumption can increase further. Because of which users can face problems like network congestion.

Not only in India, video streaming service quality, through the OTT platform has been reduced in European countries also due to Coronavirus.  These companies also said in their joint statement that the digital industry is constantly trying to accept this challenge and continue to get smooth mobile networks in India. So that people do not have to face connectivity problems in talking to their beloved ones.
