Corona is spreading rapidly in the
country. In such a situation, it is important to get anyhow a vaccine to deal
with it. For this, registration can be done through the Cowin portal.
But due to high traffic and low vaccine,
users are facing difficulty in booking slots. Users are searching for various
alternatives on their mobile phones in the hope of getting the vaccine soon. Scammers
are taking advantage of this.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response
Team (CERT-In) has issued an advisory. In this, users have been warned
about the fake Cowin vaccine app.
The Fake Cowin vaccine app is spreading
very fast through SMS. It affects users' mobiles. Later the user may become
exhausted.
CERT-In has told that the fake
message is spreading very fast from SMS. It is claimed that this app will help
users to register for corona vaccination.
This message changes from time to time,
but there is no change in its goals. It is said that users should download the
app in some way.
In the message, you are asked to
download any one of the 5 types of APK files. These files are made for
Android phones. Here again, tell you not to install any such APK file.
The APK files that are asked to
download include Covid-19.apk, Vaci_Regis.apk, MyVaccin_v2.apk, Cov-Regis.apk, and Vccin-Apply.apk files.
SMS comes with a download link. On
clicking this, the malware app gets downloaded on the users' device. After
this, it automatically spreads through SMS to other users.
The vaccination process is being
digitally managed in India. To take the Corona vaccine, one has to
register on the Cowin website (cowin.gov.in) or the Aarogya Setu app.
There are many apps such as Paytm,
HealthifyMe to track the Corona vaccine. We would advise you not to
download the Fake apps for vaccination from any unknown link.
